As members of Christ Presbyterian Church, we live in the small mountain town of Telluride; a dynamic, historic, diverse, eclectic, athletic, entrepreneurial collecting point in southwest Colorado for people from all over the U.S. Our community includes 5,500 people living in the Town of Telluride, Mountain Village (1,200 feet above), and nearby Aldasoro Ranch, Elk Run, Ski Ranches and Lawson Hill. San Miguel County numbers 7,500 permanent residents.
There are about 100 members of Christ Presbyterian Church, and on any given Sunday, the range of participants is from 50 to 75; as visitors enhance our numbers during peak seasons and holidays. What makes Christ Church so interesting is the diversity of those in attendance; from bankers to real estate agents, from lawyers to artists, from shop owners to cyber-businesspeople…to devoted athletes. Those attending Christ Presbyterian Church vary in age, as well; from children and young families to the elderly. Children provide an early focus to each service, and then move downstairs to a Sunday School program. Beautiful music from our pianist and choir connects us all.
Our congregation lacks typical social-strata barriers, and there is a welcoming feel among everyone, a unity that is valued and cherished. We are a family…and all are welcome.
People come to Telluride for one common reason: it’s sheer, natural beauty. We feel that this mountain paradise is a gift from God, and relating this beauty to God is an essential part of who we are at Christ Presbyterian Church.
